54Basics of Macro Photography
When you begin to learn more and more about cameras, especially when you have the best photography camera, it is inevitable that in the soon enough you will be involve in different forms of photography. In this particular article let us discuss more about macro photography and some basic tips about it.
So the first thing I think should make sense at this point is this:
What is macro photography?
Macro or what is also called micro (the name micro was first popularized by Nikon Company) is a type of digital photography that focuses on taking pictures of tiny objects. A photographer who specializes on this field is called macro photographer. There are quite a lot of principles when it comes to macro photography but for now let us first create the entire picture of what it is all about.
When you want to take a picture of a tiny object using your Nikon D3 or any DSLR camera, let say an army of ants on the ground, you need to get your lens closer to take the picture. But typically most lenses, no matter how you configure the three settings (ISO, aperture, and shutter speed) you still don’t get the sharpness of the image. The reason for this is that most lenses are limited when it comes to range of depth of field they can take good quality pictures. That is why a macro lens is specially designed to take shoots of tiny images.
As you have noticed I have mentioned the term depth of field and for those who are pure newbies in photography I would like to explain a little further on it…
What is depth of field?
The depth of field of the camera lens is quite identical to that of the human eye. Observe that when you are focusing your sight on a single object everything near it becomes blurry. This is because everything else is farther away with the object you are looking. But if you place two objects, for example two bottles, with exactly the same distance you will see both of the objects clearly. But when you change your focus, observe that the two bottles becomes blurry. This is what happens with your camera as well.
There are still a lot of things that needs to be learned about macro photography. If you are interested in macro photography it is best that you try it out yourself using your professional photography camera.
